On iTunes

OS X needs a Devices app to handle syncing. Full stop. Until that happens iTunes and Apple Music will be a mess.

Sync is slow on both USB and Wi-Fi. Backups demand a coffee break. And they’re total bullshit: their content should be backed up, but apps themselves don’t need to be backed up like media files do when it’s easy to re-download what you’ve purchased. I hate syncs and backups because of this.

Apple Music makes the situation worse, and when you account for iTunes Match still being a separate service it becomes unmanageable.

If Devices is made separate, whither iTunes? Axe it. Music is all you need. Put video in a separate app—call it Apple TV if you must—and let that user experience breathe on its own.

Too big to fail is intellectually weak horseshit. It’s time for Apple to do what Apple does best and reinvent its media platform.
